Located 22 kilometres from Vernon BC, Silver Star Mountain Resort is a world-class family holiday destination drawing skiers and snow lovers from around the world. Known for its great ski conditions with light dry snow and lots of powder filled days Silver Star continues to grow each year in popularity. The Village is inviting and picturesque creating a colourful winter wonderland vibe.

Though Silver Star’s main draw is Alpine skiing and snowboarding, it boasts many other great activities, from cross country skiing and snowshoeing to mountain biking and hiking in the warmer months. We asked top Vernon real estate agent Lisa Salt what to do at Silver Star Mountain Resort. This is what she said:

Alpine Skiing & Snowboarding

With amazing views and over 130 runs Silver Star is a true skiers delight. Boasting four distinct faces with a terrain that is great for novices but still challenging for more advanced skiers and snowboarders. For the experts the backside of the mountain has over 1500 acres of steep and powdery black and double black diamond runs.

Nordic Skiing

There is nothing better than cross-country skiing Silver Star Mountain trails on a beautiful sunny day. Take in the forest canopy and the valley views as you ski along the professionally groomed runs. With 55 kilometres of trails that will satisfy both beginners and experts. A dual mountain ski pass will open up another 50 kilometres of connecting trails at the nearby Sovereign Lakes Nordic Centre.

Snowshoeing

Maybe you aren’t much of a skier, but you still want to get out and enjoy the Okanagan winter. With 16 kilometres of single track trails cutting through the Silver Star mountain forest, Snowshoeing is a great way to spend a day or two with friends and family. Bring your dog along for added fun.

Ice Skating

Meet your friends at Brewer’s Pond outdoor skating rink. A beautiful setting awaits you among the trees and snow with an outdoor fire, music and a one-hectare skating surface. Play hockey or practice your figure skating. Huddle around the fire with your hot chocolate as you watch your children glide by.

Tubing

Sledding fun for the whole family. With truck-sized inner tubes and a tube lift enjoy tubing without the effort of having to hike back up a hill carrying your sled. Children as young as three can participate. Maybe even grandma and grandpa will take part in the excitement. Super-fast rides and a controlled environment mean a safe fun day for all.

Fat Biking

If you like to mountain bike but miss it all winter long Silver Star is the perfect place to continue your bike riding even in the colder months. With over 15 kilometres of trails and bikes designed specifically for the snow it’s a unique and fun way to spend some time on the mountain.

Dining

Silver Star has over 15 restaurants, lounges, pubs and cafes. Whatever your dining needs or desires you are sure to find it in one of the establishments located in The Village. After a day on the slopes sip your wine in one of the fancier restaurants or drink a beer in one of the local pubs.

Snowmobiling

If you have always dreamed about jumping on a snowmobile and riding through mountains of powder and backcountry terrain but aren’t comfortable going on your own rent a sled and take a guided tour around Silver Star mountain. Book one to three-hour tours with knowledgeable and professional guides.

Bowling

When one thinks of ski hills they don’t always think about bowling. That doesn’t mean they can’t go together. Have a good time with a date, or organize a group of twenty to meet after a day of skiing. With ski-in-ski-out facilities unstrap your skis and spend the afternoon or evening 10-pin bowling.

Spa

After a day strapped to skis or a snowboard make an appointment at Elevate SilverStar Spa. Elevate is a full-service spa so relax and get pampered in a calm soothing atmosphere. Get a hot stone massage or a rejuvenating facial. Seasons pass holders receive a 10% discount on products and services.

Summer Fun

Famous for being a winter wonderland, summer on Silver Star Mountain still has a lot to offer. From mountain biking to hiking to dining. Take the gondola up the hill, bask in the great views and then hit the trails. Strap on your hiking boots or jump on your mountain bike.
